Teeth whitening

Tooth whitening is the most well-known and used procedure of dental aesthetics. Nowadays, there are many ways to whiten the teeth, but the most preferred option is whitening supervised by the dentist.

Normally, milk teeth are whiter than definitive teeth. With the aging, the teeth become darker due to the changes that occur in their structure.

In addition, the teeth can stain with bacterial pigments, food or the action of various drugs.

Smoking causes dark spots, while certain enamel defects or conditions (hypoplasia, fluorosis) can lead to yellowing of the teeth.

In favorable cases, whitening can change the color of the teeth with 2-3 shades: for example from A3.5 to A2 or A1.

Whitening does not affect the color of existing fillings, dental work or dentures. The prostheses can whiten out of the mouth by using a specific whitening agent (which is usually used to clean the prostheses).

The effect of whitening can last from a few months to a few years and depends on the lifestyle of each patient. Regular oral hygiene and the avoidance of smoking or food pigments can prolong the effect of whitening.

SANADENT TIP
Do not start any dental bleaching procedure without consulting your dentist beforehand. Only this can tell if the necessary conditions for whitening are ensured (hygienic teeth, healthy enamel, etc.) and if the results that can be achieved satisfy your expectations.
